Tom Blakemore is like any other 9 year old in this country, he loves football, his computer and playing with his brothers. However, in January 2010 Tom was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called Embryonal Rhabdomyosarcoma

Embryonal Rhabdomyosarcoma is a childhood cancer that affects about 60 children a year by attacking the bodies’ soft tissue.

In Tom’s case the cancer is behind his face in the nasopharyhx area.

Due to the position of the tumor an operation to remove it is not possible, Radiotherapy is considered far too damaging for a child of his age and Chemotherapy treatments may have little affect on the growth rate of the tumor.

The only other option for Tom is to undergo Proton treatment which is only available in the United States of America at a cost of £250, 000. At the moment the family are still fighting for NHS funding, however even if they do get the support, this is money only for the treatment and so they will need to raise funds themselves in order to get Tom and one parent out to the USA and to cover living costs for 6 weeks.

Tom’s family is doing everything they can to try and raise this amount but need help and that’s where you can come in!

Please donate anything you can and help give a 9 year old boy his childhood back!

Thank you
